The Round Table: ‘’The role of English for National Development’’

The event will bring together the representatives of the Ministry of higher and secondary education and the Ministry of public education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Fund Forum, Uzbekistan Teachers’ of English Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, local and international employers, rectors and pro-rectors of key universities and in-service teacher training institutions to discuss the role of English for national development, promote the outcomes of key English reform projects and explore current challenges and opportunities around teaching and learning of English in Uzbekistan.

Steve McNulty, British Council Country Director, Uzbekistan said:

‘’It is widely recognised in Uzbekistan that English is a key skill for the development of the country. I think the country is very lucky in having some very talented students and some extremely dedicated and skilled teachers. I hope English week will be helpful to both students and teachers. I would like to thank our partners who have taken a key role in the organisation of this week with us and without whom it would not take place.
